Vanilla ice cream with maple syrup and walnuts

Went to an ice cream parlor with my husband. He had his usual which is mint chocolate and Oreo ice cream and I vanilla ice cream with maple syrup and walnuts. Decadent but so good.

Japanese dinner

Yellow tail and salmon sashimi, simmered "satoimo" (Japanese taro) and left-overs.

Koyadofu and Pan-simmered shredded beef, broccoli and carrots

Koyadofu is freeze-dried tofu and when simmered in dashi soup it has sponge like texture. It is my husband's and my favorite vegetarian dish. Pan-simmered shredded beef and vegetables are flavored by sake, sugar, oyster sauce, soy sauce and sesame oil.

Italian pastries

My husband brought me back very nice Italian pastries from an Italian deli near-by his work: Tiramisu, ricotta cheese tart, chocolate mousse roll and caramel apple cheese cake. Tiramisu was especially delicious.

Nabe - Shredded pork and Chinese cabbage

This is one of "Nabe" dishes. Nabe is a Japanese cray pot and we cook all sorts of food in it. It is typically winter comfort food but for me it is good for anytime. This one has shredded pork and Chinese cabbage. It is simmered sake and salt. Very simple but brings out great taste of the ingredients.

Japanese Dinner

Grilled salmon, blanched spinach, Koya dofu, Japanese omelet, rice and miso soup with wakame seaweed and tofu.

OmuRice with Demigras sauce

Tonight's dinner was something called "OmuRice" with demigras sauce. It is fried rice flavored with butter and ketchup covered with omelet. It is a Japanese invention and quite popular. When I was a kid, usually omurice was dressed with ketchup but nowadays it is getting popular to serve it with demigras sauce.

If you have seen the movie, "V for Vendetta", you know what this is. It was actually pretty good. It is sunny side up and butter toast all together.

Curry Soba

I made Japanese curry with butter rice yesterday. We had left over curry sauce and had it over Japanese soba noodle.

Hamburg Steak with demigras sauce

This is called "Hamburg Steak" in Japan and it is similar to Salisbury steak . It is a very popular dinner dish in Japan.

BBQ

Tonight was the first BBQ night for this year. I love my steak bloody rare. We had it with butter and a little bit of soy sauce.

Friendly's

My husband and I went to Friendly's today for lunch for fun. We ordered Cesar salad to share. It was a good job that we shared for it was a huge portion as an appetizer. I had a hot dog with French fries. They hit the spot!
