Katsudon

If you have left over tonkatsu, katsudon is a great option. Simmer onion with tsuyu broth and add katsu. Then drop egg over it and simmer. Transfer it over hot steamed rice. An Easy but very delicious meal is ready to serve.

Sushi dinner

Another incentive for going to the office is its location....its close proximity to Asian supermarkets. I felt like good sashimi and therefore, I got some sashimi blocs of yellow tail and flounder, salmon roe, scallops and toro tartar. Laid them on the top of sushi rice and voila! Love good sashimi.

Ramen lunch

Every now and then I need to go to the office for business meeting. Often times my boss treats me to lunch and today he took me to Japanese ramen (Chinese noodle) house near by the office. I had chanpon tonkotsu ramen. I had not have ramen very long time and it was certainly a great treat.

Birthday dinner - Italian

My husband took me out for dinner for my birthday to a very nice Italian restaurant. The food was delicious and service was very pleasant. I loved everything we had but I think the foie gras was my favoirte. We almost skipped desserts since we were so full but once we saw the menu, we just could not resist! The banana tart's crust was made with Phyllo pastry and it was very light and good. The chocolate cake was done perfectly and delicious with hazelnut and mint ice cream.

Oyako-don Variation

This is a variation of Oyakodon. Oyakodon is a Japanese rice bowl dish with chicken, egg and onion which are simmered in Japanese broth and served over rice. "Oyako" means "parent and child" and Oyakodon has chicken and egg. This variation is with Teriyaki chicken and Japanese scramble egg. They are served over rice with green onion and sprinkled with Sansho (Japanese pepper).

Chikuzen Ni (Simmerd vegetables with chicken)

Chikuzen-ni is one of popular Japanese comfort food. It has bamboo shoot, shiitake, konnyaku, vegetables and chicken. We also had fried satoimo which was made from the left-over simmered satoimo.
